Welcome to my June wrap-up, where I share my reading stats and opinions on the books I read. I think next month I’ll add in some extra info about shows, films and music but I’m not sure if it’ll be a separate post or longer one yet, we’ll see! Anyway, here are my posts in June:
Also, this month I participated in Whateverathon, and although I didn’t reach my goal of 4 books, I had a great time joining in with the reading sprints on youtube.
Reading Stats
I read 3 books and 1195 pages with an average of 40 pages a day!
♡ my average rating was 4.67
♡ 3 physical books
♡ 1 thriller, 1 sci-fi/fantasy, 1 memoir
♡ 3 adult
This has been a really great reading month for me. I’m going back to stats more like February and March in terms of books and pages read, and hopefully I can read even more over the rest of summer! I definitely could have read more because I read 2 books in the first week, but I had covid at one point and had just finished exams so I wasn’t too interested. The rating is amazing as well because everything was 4+ stars, and 2 of them were 5 stars, which I haven’t had since January!
The Books
Firstly, In the Dream House was amazing. I read Her Body and Other Parties by the same author last month and it was definitely good overall and insightful, but the short stories were very hit or miss for me. This memoir however was much more cohesive even through different lens and so impactful, but be mindful that it is about an abusive relationship if you’re thinking of reading. I finally got around to reading The Stone Sky and I’m so glad I did! It was a great end to the series, although it did take me a while to get back into the story since it’s been so long.
I rated Out 4 stars, but it could have easily been 4.5/5 stars for the first half of the book. There wasn’t much action but I was so invested in the story and the author did a great job of getting into the character’s heads. The last third was fast-paced and easy to read however it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth and the shift in focus didn’t feel very satisfying.
Thanks for reading! How was your June?
