June Wrap Up and July TBR | I Failed…

Welcome to my post, where I’m doing something a little different and combining my June wrap up and July TBR together, for obvious reasons which you’ll see in a minute…

I didn’t continue my weekly wrap ups this month and I’ve posted a lot less. Usually no exams and college should mean more time to blog, but I’ve been enjoying my summer so far and haven’t felt like posting or reading much. That trend will hopefully not continue since blogging is something which I like doing and want to carry on, but maybe not the same amount as usual!

Here are my posts for the month:

Reading Stats

I read 3 books and 1238 pages with an average of 41 pages a day!

♡ my average rating was 3.83

2 physical books, 1 ebook

♡ 1 sci-fi, 1 thriller, 1 romance

♡ 3 adult

Clearly I read a lot less than every other month, which is crazy because I’ve had so much more free time, but I think because I don’t have a structure to my days at the moment I just don’t reach for books like normal. I am happy with the mix of genres though!

The Books

First I read The Maidens, which sadly didn’t live up to my (very high) expectations of a dark academia thriller. I ended up giving it 3 stars because I liked the dark atmosphere and easy to read writing, but not the one-dimensional characters or slightly clunky and undeveloped plot. Next I gave One Last Stop 4 stars because the first half was more of a 3 star read because it dragged on a bit but the last half was easily 5 stars. A Memory Called Empire was an impressive 4.5 stars – it definitely took a while to get into it and the poetry was too intellectual for me but I loved Mahit’s character, the rich world-building and the mystery aspect. I’m currently halfway through Under the Udala Trees and I have been for about a week but hopefully I can finish it soon!

July TBR

I thought I’d combine my TBR in this post because I didn’t have many books to talk about and I don’t have a set TBR for this month. I was planning on joining a few readathons but with my reading slump last month I’d rather have more freedom! I definitely want to read at least one ARC and continue one series though. Here are a few options:

Thanks for reading! How was your June and do you have any plans for July?
