My Week
Not much to report this week – I’ve been getting on with revision and reading before I don’t have any time to!

My Week in Books
A great week for reading! First I finished The Bone Shard Daughter. I talked about it a little in my wrap up, but it was a solid 4 stars for me. The world is really original, from the magic system to the structure of the empire to the characters we follow. I loved the two main POVs Lin and Jovis, with the cutest animal companion Mephi! I wanted to love the other POVs and sapphic relationship but I wasn’t that invested sadly. There’s also a sense of mystery throughout with unpredictable twists and a well thought out plot that makes it feel like the author knows exactly what she’s doing next. I’m scared for the sequel but I can’t wait!
Next is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I finished this last night and cried a lot near the end at Evelyn’s story. I wasn’t as invested in Monique’s story because we didn’t get to see much of her, so the plot twist didn’t shock me and I kind of saw it coming anyway. However, I loved following Evelyn’s life story and all I wanted was for everyone to be happy but that couldn’t happen could it! I gave it 4.5 stars.
I’ve also been listening to the audiobook of The Only Good Indians. I’m about 60% through so far and enjoying it, if that’s the right word. There have been a few gory scenes and listening to someone describe it is definitely more vivid. There was a sudden change in perspective about 40% through and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet but I’ll wait and see where the rest of the story takes me!
