JADE CITY BY FONDA LEE
GENRE: urban fantasy
Jade City is set in Kekon, an island with two rival gangs that produces rare magical jade. This is on my series to start in 2021 and I’m so excited to finally start it! I have high expectations so let’s hope I love it.
GODS OF JADE AND SHADOW BY SILVIA MORENO-GARCIA
GENRE: fantasy, historical fiction
This is set in Mexico in the Jazz age, where the Mayan god of death sends Casiopea on a dangerous journey. I loved Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and this sounds very different so I can’t wait to read it!
THE WEIGHT OF THE STARS BY K ANCRUM
GENRE: YA, contemporary?
Okay so I thought this was sci-fi but after actually reading the synopsis I think it’s more of a contemporary? I’m not too sure but I know there’s found family and a wlw romance and the cover is beautiful so that’s enough for me to want to read it!
ROYAL ASSASSIN BY ROBIN HOBB
GENRE: fantasy
This is the second book in the Farseer trilogy, as we follow Fitz the royal bastard training to be an assassin. I haven’t read the first one yet so this is going to push me to finally start the series!
THE OBELISK GATE BY N K JEMISIN
GENRE: fantasy, dystopia
This is the second book of the Broken Earth trilogy. The first book follows 3 perspectives in a continent called The Stillness which has extreme seasons and magic orogenes who are feared and shunned by society. I loved the first book and I’m scared but so excited to continue the series!
