Weekly Wrap Up: 04/01-10/01

Welcome to my post! I’m back with another Sunday wrap up post. I didn’t write one last week because I posted my 2020 Wrap Up instead, so I’ll update you on the books I read then too.

29/12-03/01

That week I finally finished The Goldfinch, an hour before the end of 2020! I have a review coming out for it on Wednesday so watch out for that. I also got through Piranesi in two days for my first read of 2021. It was very strange and atmospheric which is exactly what I was looking for, with a little mystery too. I gave it 4 stars!

My Week

So, this week hasn’t been the best. I started college in person on Monday so I got to see some of my friends, but then Boris Johnson announced that schools would all be closing so on Tuesday it was back to online school again. And exams are cancelled! It is good but it does mean that there’s going to be a lot more focus on February mocks, so our exams have basically been moved forward 3 months, which means more pressure! Anyway, there’s not much we can do for now so I’m just going to continue working and taking care of myself at home. It’s been a crazy week for America too. The domestic terrorism scared me and I don’t even live in America, so I can’t imagine how you guys are feeling right now, but I’m sending my love.

My Week in Books

So I finished The Burning God this week and it emotionally drained me. It’s the first book in a long time that made me properly cry and I’m so glad I didn’t put it off any longer! I will be writing a review soon but it will be almost two weeks until I actually post it because I’m being organised with my scheduling. For now, know that I rated  the end to this amazing trilogy 5 stars. My review will be up sooner on my goodreads account, so you can friend me here if you want to find out my thoughts sooner!

I started Tender is the Flesh after I finished The Burning God, which was probably not the best idea because it’s also very gruesome and heavy. But right now I’m about halfway and I wouldn’t say I’m enjoying reading about a cannibal dystopia but it is good so far.

Lastly, and actually least, is Space Hopper. I’ve started the audiobook but it’s just so boring and mundane, even with a plot of time-travelling. I’m about halfway with this too but I’m really considering DNFing. The only reason I haven’t yet is because it’s an ARC so I feel like I probably should finish it, but we’ll see how much more I can take!

Thanks for reading! How was your week?

  1. I’m sorry to hear about school – how disappointing to get to go back for a day and then switch to online! Glad you’re staying safe though ♥ Just added you on Goodreads – I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on TBG! Sending lots of good vibes for your exams! ♥
