5 On My TBR: Sequels

Thanks to @LocalBeeHuntersNook for #5OnMyTBR – a weekly bookish meme where we share 5 books on our TBR list from prompts (which you can find here).  The prompt this week is sequels!

This week’s 5 On My TBR is a bit shorter (only 3!), since I haven’t read many series recently, so please recommend any series you love!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters

→ fantasy

→ middle grade

I doubt this one needs an introduction, but I love Percy Jackson and I can’t wait to re-read this! I genuinely can’t remember anything that happened after the Lightning Thief, so it will be fun to read again and see if I can actually remember anything when I’m reading it.

→ play

→ tragedy

In this Greek drama, Antigone challenges King Creon’s right to not bury one of her brothers, who dies fighting his other brother for the throne.

Antigone is technically the 3rd of the Theban Plays by Sophocles (in chronological order), but it was written first. I probably should have read this play first, but it made sense to me at the time to read Oedipus Rex, so I’m going to call this the sequel!

The Dragon Republic

→ fantasy

Don’t get mad at me, but… I haven’t actually read The Poppy War yet! I know, I know.

I can’t tell you too much about this one because I don’t want to spoil it for myself, and everyone’s probably read it already, but I’ve heard such good reviews about the series that I’m already excited to read it!

That’s it for today, thank for reading! What series do you recommend?
